Words absolutely fail me that i discover that in the USA (which lets face it means that in the UK we will soon be in for some of the same in the near future) that to get in the free Yahoo listings and get the bot to visit you on a regular basis (so that the bot doesnt forget to visit your site)not only do you have to pay an annual fee for each page you want listed but also have to pay a cost per click $.15 for every visitor you get!.

What a bloody sham, what an absolute disgrace, dam greed, nothing more just dam greed and out and out financial extraction!!!

Well i tell you something guys, if Yahoo want to pull this trick in the UK i for one will be telling them right where to shove it. What do they want here? - just lists of paid entries showing up for every search term. Its bad enough paying to list per click under the sponsored adverts let alone in the free listings aswell!

And what use will Yahoo become as a search engine in the longer term?. Zero use frankly, just a site full of paid adverts! i will not use this search engine now on principle, i think what they are doing via overture in the US is a total, total disgrace and provides zero support to webmasters.

Wasnt the idea of a dam search engine to give results based on content from websites listings?.

This is like saying if you want your phone number listed in a phone book, if you want a featured advert you pay for it, if you want to list near the top of the page you pay for it, oh and by the way to make sure we dont forget about your number we want an annual fee off you as well and also want to charge you for anyone that wants to phone you at the same time!!! - talk about having you cake and eating it, and everyones else cake aswell by the looks of it!

Anyway, rant over, i have nothing more to say about this other than to stress how dire and what a disgrace this charging method is. With any luck the company will choke on there income.

Are you sure your correct on this. Site match is a service where your advert gets shown on Overture's advertisers network.

I really doubt Yahoo will change into some ind of ppc only engine, I think their site is carefull to present a promoter with the most expensive options first. And does it matter what country you're in? I think not.

Regarding the country you are in, no it doesnt matter - well regarding the UKs relationship with the USA we should be the next US state anyway! - but thats a different subject.

Meanwhile regarding Yahoo read this from Overture:-

http://www.content.overture.com/d/USm/ac/pr/sm.jhtml

Site match has NOT been released yet into the UK.

I have an Overture UK account and pay for the PPC program under the Precision Match product. My understanding is that in the US you pay per click under the "precision match program" which lets you list in the sponsored few at the top of Yahoo (depending on what you bid) - this is the same in the UK

If you buy the "site match product" also you pay an annual fee plus a pay per click amount for your site to be spidered and list in the normal yahoo listings under the sponsored advert listings. You pay per page that you want included.

which ever way you look at this it is another way for Yahoo to extract yet more cash from webmasters

I do nothing with Yahoo. They send very little traffic and are a lot on the greedy side.

Hey stoner, I guess it all depends on the market and how well your
site converts. I've seen some people do really well on Yahoo. I
guess it's all a matter of perspective.
