Probably nobody can do that!

So if nobody cannot actually show that they do have this magical effect, it's just blind faith, or a belief in the mystical.

Chris believes that keywords in titles help serps on that keyword.
Chris believes that keywords in descriptions help serps on that keyword.
Chris believes that keywords in headers help serps on that keyword.
Chris believes that keywords in content help serps on that keyword.
Chris disbelieves that keywords in domain names help serps on that keyword.
But other intelligent people think that domain names get parsed and weighted by Google just like titles, headers, etc. For example, you don't think Thai is stupid, do you?
We may have to test this out! Can you think of a good test?

I think you will find that Chris thinks domain name carries no more weight than say title in serps, or anchor text in links, the main problem is so many believe that domain name is the most important place to have a keyword, but obviously just about all the busiest sites in the world have proved it doesn't make any difference, domain name isn't a magical power that will serp you magically to the number 1 spot.

Never thought it was. The counter-argument seemed to be that it had no value at all.
BTW You wouldn't ever have tried to supply wooden accessories for buildings, would you? Like doors, for example. Especially ones made out of teak?

Not "believes", this can be demonstrated to be true. Assuming you are refering to the page title rather title attributes

This depends upon what is being termed "descriptions"
meta description (only in Yahoo!
and while in the meta range, keywords only in Yahoo! as well.
Again no "belief" is needed it can be demonstrated

Absolutely NOT. I KNOW headers are no use for ranking, However head ings probably do, but it is a difficult thing to test in isolation.

No I don't disbelieve it because that would be the exact opposite of faith. I simply haven't seen any kind of evidence that it does. There is of course plenty of evidence to demonstrate that it is NOT an "important" factor.

That was an idea at one time.
I just googled and yahooed "Best search engine" and "top search engine", both google and yahoo were absent from the first page, a site called dogpile was extremely noticeable by being number 1 and 2, they have none of the search terms in their domain name.

That is what I meant. Thanks for clarifying.
Concerning keywords in domain names:-

We just thought it was a factor. We did not know the weight.
That's a very insightful reply. Thanks again!

It all has to be weighed against the advantages of having a unique brand name.
Possibly ( possibly) they would have got off to a quicker start by calling themselves "BestSearchEngine" and having a URL like www-bestsearchengine-com. However, even if that helped them initially, they would have faced trademark and branding issues later.

Think you will find search engine is a generic term so anybody can use it.

Yes, they would have faced trademark and branding issues later. (Thinks... haven't I read this somewhere before?)

I think that online technique is one of the best technique to get on top pages in google. Until the onpage optimization is not done perfectly I don't think there will be any positive effect of any other techniques.

I think I asked the proverbial stupid question. My wits go a little astray after a quarter of a bottle of vodka.

The third technique might be the 'Grey Hat Method' which is a mixture of Black & White Hat Methods of SEO
