What do you guys think of blekko, the new search engine? If you haven't seen it, you can check it out at www.blekko.com . It seems to me that it provides a LOT of cool seo data (like link stuff), but I don't think it has a very big data base. So it's fun, but I'm not sure how much one should trust it.
So what do you think?

I took a look at it, and while it does have some unique features (slashtaggs), I don't think it can compete with Google. Bweezy, on the other hand, has some amazing features that are easy to use and can save you so much time! www.bweezy.com allows you to search and open search results in the same window without having to open tab after tab! Give it a try!

I agree, Blekko is alright. I'm trying Bweezy now, and I love the features! I hate opening a million tabs. Looking forward to using this new search engine more!

I've never heard of bweezy. Funny that it's name is a lot like blekko.
I looked at bweezy and it looks like it uses google results... so why wouldn't I just stay at google? I'll have to take another look...

I see what you're saying about staying at Google. It's hard to get away from Google because it's just such a powerful search engine, but since Bweezy offers Google results, I like it. In addition to Google results, it lets you open search results right on the page, so you don't have to open tabs. I like this because I do a lot of research for my job. Saves me time.

What would you expect for something nobody has heard of?

I wouldnt say nobody has heard of it, they've been getting an average of a million hits a day since launch. The problem is that what they offer doesnt really appeal to the regular non-techie person out there. Plus they have no Image, video, news etc search. I think their bigger problem will be retention.

Is it my imagination, or is Blekko missing Image, news, etc search? Is there a link that I'm missing?

I see that it's missing too. If we're both missing it, it's not very obvious.

Yeah, but YOU may have cognitive dissonance :-) , seeing that you run your own search engine.

Though of course it is just a meta search tool and the results actually come from Google.

Though of course that doesn't make a difference to anyone using it. At the end of the day it simply has great features that make search better.
You've made the same remark in the web review forum. I'm curious why is this such an big deal to you?

Yes the results come from Google, which I think many people agree is a "plus". We understand your comments and appreciate your feedback!

Because presenting it as a "new search engine" is misleading, it is simply a wrapper for Google results using the Google CSE

Just an afterthought, maybe we should treat these links as we would affiliate or referral links?

Chris,
I still don't understand who is being misled. It seems you've decided that the term "engine" refers to the spiders, index etc. Again, says who? Maybe the word "engine" should refer to the totality of the offerings of a website which allows you to search the web? The vast majority of people don't care whose results they are, they care whether their search is being made better or not. So if a website uses Google results, but adds better, innovative features to those results, why should they not be allowed to term themselves "search engine", which is what the vast majority of people WOULD call them?
I'd really like to understand your view on this.
