Just wondering if anyone's had any positive experiences using addme.com; in particular I'm wondering if their free search engine submission to 13 search engines has improved rankings for anyone here in the past; it links to 1/2 good engines; Alltheweb, FAST....
they just ask that you place their logo on your site and you get it for free (they have more advanced submission at cost which I'm sure is much better).

I'd just make the point that I'm not averse to paying for search engine submission etc. - in fact I firmly believe that if you pay, it will pay in the long-run - but always open to any free or cheap facilities that actually do generate positive returns.

Anyhow, if anyone has any thoughts re: Addme.com, I'd love to hear them.

all the best,
D.

Personally I wouldn't bother. I used them ages ago and it didn't help. I don't think they do anything that can't be done manually. The best exercise in SEO they're doing is getting links from thousands of sites.

Personally I always go for the manual method. Much better way of getting in.

by submitting through that automated script they have, it will not help your rankings at all, unless your site is truly optimised to rank highly in search engines anyway.
it's all about the optimisation of a site and similar themed links to your site, submission to crawler based search engines these days is practically worthless.
by submitting to directories such as goguides.org and joeant.com your site will always get crawled by the major search engine robots.

Ditto. All it does is submit them. You are definitely better off manually submitting to the search engines (what very few free ones that are left). As well, you don't want to have to give up your valuable page real-estate and link back to them.

I think there is a post with direct links to the search engine's "add url" forums/pages around here somewhere.

Let us know if you need help Damascus.
