Hi Drachewyn, Praveen, Lippy and Fellow Forumies

I recently had my Webpage indexed by Lycos...
Unfortunately I cannot find my site under all my meta tag entries, but can only search with my page title only.

For Example, I cannot search from any names in the Description & Keywords Meta Tags.

Should the "Description" Tag be before the "Keywords" Tag ?

Here is a copy of my Meta Tags :

<TITLE>Gerard Rima Website. Family. Travel, Vacations, Holidays, Romance, Scuba, Sailing, Friends.</TITLE>
<META NAME="Description" CONTENT="Gerard Rima Website. Vacations, Holidays, Family, Friends. Everyting for the Rima Family.">
<META NAME="Keywords" CONTENT="Mauritius, Gerard, Rima, Martine, Rima, Jacqueline, Nicholas, Australia, Melbourne, Relatives, Isle de France, Barbet, Collard, Desveaux, Vitry, Indian Ocean">
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">

One more Question : Can I do any changes to my Meta Tags and will this be reflected automaticaly by the search Engines, once I completed the changes..? Or do I need to resubmit through Lycos.

I hope all this makes sense...!

Hey !.. Drachewyn.. Of course you can come and visit... Actually you can all Visit.. But first HELP...! HELP...! HELP...! HELP...! HELP..! Meeeeeeeeee...!

Thanks Fellows

Firstly, There is nothing wrong with your meta tags. it is perfectly fine.

Secondly, just because a search engine spider has visited the site does not mean it will be indexed by it.

and even it decides to index it. it may take anywhere from a week to 2-3 months for your site to be displayed/put in the db.

as for your second question, you can change your meta tags,

when the spider revisits your site again (time depends on search engines to searchengines) it will take a note of this meta tags.

but to be listed, use the tags which you have used before and dont change all of them, so that it recognises ur site.

otherwise it will think this is a new one and will drop the old one (chances are there).

and btw : i just gave a search for "Gerard Rima Website.". and your site appears in the search results.

All the best and Take Care and Have Fun

ps : also it is a good idea to resubmit your site to search engines every 3-4 months or so.

Your tags look too much like spam. They dont make sence. If I were in you shoes I would try to make a coherent sentence for your description and with your title make it 3 words at most. You should also have a basic theme to your tags just like your site should be themed. As broad as your tags are I would say that you will not get listed in all or even 1/3 of the keywords.

"Unfortunately I cannot find my site under all my meta tag entries, but can only search with my page title only." Why on earth are you looking for all your meta tags. Lycos and Fast are in kahoots so if you want to get into Lycos you need to get in to Fast/Alltheweb. Again you need to have your site themed so Fast can index it in a specific area of its index. If you go broad you will get nothing, however, if you go specific you will get better results.

Normally meta tags containing more then one word such as: Gerard Rima Website need to be formed in this manner:
, 'Gerard Rima Website' ,

noticing the spaces before and after the commas as well as the a apostrophe. This will tell the spider not to parse these words as "words" but as a "phrase".

Scrub the Web has an easy to use Meta Tag analyzer at http://www.scrubtheweb.com/abs/meta-check.html if this is of any value
