I think they're having major problems at the moment. There's just far too many sites to be looked at, especially in the web hosting section.

There is a forum somewhere where you can check the status of your sites, but I've forgotten it just now .... Sorry

I was getting tired of all the trouble so I decided to sign up to become an editor, not really expecting anything. To my surprise, a few days later I was accepted. After reading the guidelines, I logged on and listed my site. A few minutes later, there it was in DMOZ! I'd recommend becoming an editor if you're trying to get listed in a narrow category.

Listen everyone the only reason your sites not being listed is because of lazy *** editors. I used to be an editor and I was lazy, so I know why some sites are not being listed. Also it could be because the editor thinks your site sucks for that category or he doesn’t want you to compete with his site listed in the same category. There are some good editors that follow the dmoz guidelines, but you may get a bad apple out of the bunch. This is when humans don’t always do it better.

Remember they don't get paid to approve sites, it all about volunteering.

Some of the editors do an outstanding job at Dmoz. The Dmoz listings forum is available at http://www.resource-zone.com if memory serves me correctly.

A site I submitted took a full year to get listed. Eventually the problem was realised...sites at Dmoz are listed for review in order of submittance, the oldest submission gets viewed first. Because of this, every time you resubmit your site to Dmoz it moves to THE BACK OF THE QUE.

Your best bet...submit ONCE, wait a month, and then post at http://www.resource-zone.com enquiring about an update. If you've been refused, find out why, if you're still waiting DON'T RESUBMIT - be patient, it's the only way

If you think some editor is not approving your website because of competition, use the DMOZ complaint form for editors. THE META EDITORS take a SERIOUS note of each complaint !!
