How old is your site?

MSN detects over 1400 links more than google does to my site, at leats what google shows anyway. This is after 4 months, I rank number 1 or between 1-10 in most of my search terms on msn and on google not so good. However my google rankings are slowly getting better, I found that better optimization, increasing keyword density has increased my google rankings. After 1 week, i went from not even in the top 100 and i now rank 30 something for the keywords.

I think google works slower than msn, I also think google can detect rapid increase in back links and so may slow the sites growth. Anyway, try increasing your keyowrd density on your pages and also look into changing the anchor text into keywords also.

Of all search engines, Google is the worst for my site. Yahoo, Altavista, Msn are all a lot better than google.

"trick" is a bit off in my opinion. By optimizing a site we are not "tricking" an SE, rather, we are helping the SE find the right information to provide to its users.

MSN is easy to rank in because it actually looks at on page SEO and gives it more weight. Google on the other hand has created an ALGO that is far too complex and has caused it to lose grip of its results.

You do not trick msn, you just make a good page it it ranks well, no tricks, MSN has common sense!

What I do not like about google is when you search for something generally, now, you get a website that is like 5 years old and looks like crap! Google ranks based on information, which is good, but I don't think anybody wants to read a load of content, all they want is a page, which looks nice, tells them what they want so they can then buy it.

I created a lovely site, which is good for visitors, it looks nice, reads well etc etc, I didn't fill it with keywords or anything. Msn then ranked it well, but google didn't. So I created a load of 'content' pages targeting one keyword per page. This was about 1 week ago, not even that maybe. Already I am ranking in the top 10 for a load of keywords in google, I really do not want to have these pages ranked as they are all information and I am trying to sell a product, but if that is what it takes to rank in google, then I have to do it!

Ye, I have the same problem, Google and Yahoo both index pages I don't realy want indexed. Search webmastergalaxy and you'll see why, the first page they index, is the about page, which I think is just stupid.

New sites even if first 6mos. to a yr aren't given the credibility by Google that they may deserve. Supposedly it's to prevent fly-by-night ops and spammers from ruling their SERPs, but it also makes things unnecesarily hard on start-ups and causes them to seek the benefits of AdWords to go around actual rankings. Supposedly registering a domain for a longer period of time helps, and with Google the real key is Back Links.

Who would have thought Google would make Microsoft look kind.

I also do well with MSN, on keywords I am after and some I am not. I am usually at or near the top for "visualearth" oddly enough (referring to MSNs map service), with only one drop-menu link to it and no other mentions about it. MSN is alot kinder than Google.

I am still waiting on getting a PR from Google. It just takes so long, there has to be a better way.

Yeah... You should have patience to index your new sites. You can also visit this link of webmaster guidelines.
