Both Yahoo and Overture had been active in consolidating the Web search space, with Yahoo earlier this year buying Inktomi Corp.'s commercial Web search business and Overture buying AllTheWeb.com and AltaVista.com.

Will the FCC and FTC step in if Search Engine become a monopoly

What effect will this have for Yahoo Search if they end their relationship with Google

This'll certainly be an interesting story to follow. I must admit it surprised me greatly, I really thought Yahoo was past its prime, but buying all these search engines seems to be very aggressive. Will be interesting to see what Yahoo does with its new properties.
