MY favorite search engine is Altavista i remember when that used to be one of the best now no one ever talks about it? Why is that. I have found so much stuff on altavista. If you have never heard of it check it out

AltaVista is now just a money maker. I remember when I recieived an email about a URL I had in AltaVista about charging me per click to remain listed. Of course I said NO and they dumped the URL (which was originally a paid inclusion). Then I received an email about them getting sued for this and I received a part of the money back in the claim. They have been like Overture ever since.

What im saying is Altavista Was always a better search engine then yahoo i guess before yahoo bought it. Altavista was the best

Yeah I personally used to use altavista a lot... well about 5 years ago!

I must admit I have never used yahoo for searching... or msn... has always been google and before that Ask.com

Yeah, it seems about 5 years ago is when quit using other search engines and went straight to google. And sometimes I wonder why I us it so much. Whenever I am in real need of something it is a crap load of ebay links on ever results page.

lol.. well id faded out with Gooogle and Yahoo coming on so strong.. then excite was bought out too. try metacrawler... its the best search engine available

i think my first search was on askjeeves.com.. this was wayyy back in 1998-99, did try yahoo and msn for a bit but i found the result pages too cluttered... after that i think i skipped directly to google....

Yeah, google definitley took over most the share of most of the search engine market.

Some other search engines I used to use

I remeber when Altavista was the Google of the Internet. As with all Search Engines i'm not sure how long Google will be King.

that is true, however i was reading somewhere that google has recently acquired a different algo that will help make searches better. you can read more about it here http://www.physorg.com/news6255.html
