I was looking through my logs for the last few days to see what I could pick up, and I noticed that I have quite a few robots requesting my "links out" script for each ID I have listed...
Since the script is really a gateway, and I want to keep the robots away from useless pages - I thought I might want to take steps to prevent robots from accessing them to save server resources (when the bots behave that is).
What I want to know is, do the links out of the site make any impact on those engines that use themes and link popularity? I know that the more relavent sites linking to mine the better, but I wondered if the same was true of outbound links...
Is there any evidence to suggest that a site will perform better in the engines by using direct links as opposed to ones going through say a link redirection script or click counter?
