For keywords in a title, which would be better, bluewidget.html or blue-widget.html? Thanks in advance!

I'm not an expert but I'd go for blue-widget.html. From what I've seen Google seems to like the dashes to split up words.

I would have to agree with David. Words split up by a dash usually do well for one reason or another. However, if you are set on using the url without the dash, there are ways to to help improve listings. I recommend reading tutorials on search engine submissions. Visit sites like searcheginewatch.com.

Cheers,

Even better than blue-widget.html, would be blue_widget.html. There are words in the world that are hyphened, and an underscore not only ensures that the words aren't mistaken for a hyphened phrase, but also makes the words easier to read.

I always use underscores, never hyphens or all-one-word file names.

File names are important, if you can get your main keywords into them, even as just "extra" words in the file name...such as blue_widget_hosting.html - just as an example...it could help you a little.

Hope this helps

Yup I recently read an article about keywords in web adresses and it said that google likes when you use dashes but if your domain is for example himynameis.com it would consider that as all one keyword but if it was hi-my-name-is.com then it would consider them all differend keywords.
