What's your opinion about this engine?
They're crawling a lot.
Do you think they will become a major one?

As far as ranking sites gigablast delivers some nice results. They might not get alot of traffic but the search results are very good. This is a search engine to keep your eye on.

I think they will become a more major player when then get more space for storage, and expand their servers

Its hard to keep up with the sheer volume of information google has.

I tend to agree with SEOclown somewhat (God, that sounds weird.) They are someone to pay attention to, but not necessarily to take seriously...yet.

I find they tend to exaggerate their results counts somewhat and that their crawler isn't as thorough, nor does it travel as deeply, as say the Googlebot. But that's an issue they'll solve if they beef up their equipment, as SEOclown pointed out earlier.

Their biggest issue right now is that their bot misreports itself as something called "Assertivenet" and many of the more paranoid and isolated "IT professionals" are blocking the bot and its associated IPs without first looking at their raw logs to figure out exactly what it is. If they can get around that issue, then they'll be a lot closer to where they want to be.

I don't think they'll do much, that is without money. This isn't the old days where it was more of a leveled playing field on the internet, today the corporates just muscle their way into everything.
