Direct Hit was swallowed by Ask Jeeves in January 2000. Today, its relevance ranking technology is used by Ask Jeeves in search services for third-party Web sites. The Jeeves folks have a separate Web search product geared directly toward consumers, Teoma, which also bears mention in this discussion. The 2-month-old search engine, at www.teoma.com, features a dynamic technique for improving relevance that's somewhat similar to what Kanisa is doing. Teoma looks at clusters of similar sites on the Web and allows users to repeatedly make fine distinctions about sites within those clusters. Start, hypothetically, with a search for ``wine,'' then ``wine producers,'' then ``Napa Valley wine producers.''

* Anyone used www.Teoma.com yet? Feedback??

Yes, I have seen them (they been live for a couple months now I think), but not tried it yet.

They are charging similiar to what it costs for gauranteed Inktomi inclusions (ex. www.positiontech.com )

You have to submit through their partner submission service:

*groan* I still feel AskJeeves is a useless search engine. Almost as bad as those ones that bring up viagra even if you are searching for kittens.

Sure Ask Jeeves is fun to mess around with but the results are poor. I loved it so much I wrote a review on it

*note* Do not go online if you have had a few too many. You might start talking to search engines...
