Does anyone know how to find out how many links you need to get in Top of SERPs?

It doesn't work like that. Number of links does very little for SEO, You need quality links. Links from trusted sites and links from related sites.

There is no number that willl get you to the top of serpps..

It depends on the key words you are targetting. If your keyword was "rghergergrbgrhtr" then one link should do it! For more competitive key words then you will need a lot more and yes more high quality links will get you there quicker.

It will depend a lot on the keywords you are targeting. For less competitive terms you can possibly rank #1 with the one link that an engine uses to find and index your page. With highly competitive terms it can take 1000's.

And as both stOx and Paul mentioned it's not just about quanitity. A few high quality backlinks on a site related to yours can go a lot further than 100's of poor links from unrelated sites.

Instead of inbound links(to increase your traffic..) please use the following tips.
I have some way to build your own traffic (free)

1.Writing article and post it to article websites. I am sure everyone here can read and write why dont you write some article and put a link banc to you.

2.Bloging post blog that your interest in, but donot spam

3.When you decide to pay why dont you join pay per click program (adword or overture) that you can get 1,000 quality traffic to your site by 50 dollars
I think 100,000 traffic that you buy from link exchange program is very low quality. It can not compare to 10 visitors that click to your site from an article you write.
Another free way of building traffic to your site is posting in high traffic forums with link to your website in the forum signature. Make sure you contribute to the forum with quality posts and don't just spam to show up your sig.

the number of the links do matter, but what's more improtant is the quality and age of the link

Quantity only becomes important in the context of quality. You might have hundreds of low quality links pointing to a page, but I can probably outrank that page with a handful of high quality links pointing to my page.

Now if we both have similar quality links then whoever has more is probably in better shape.

The main question in this thread though is how many links do you need and that's not a question that has an absolute answer.

Well it doesn't depend on your no.of BLs it depends upon your quality of BLs.

It depends on so many different factors such as the popularity and weight of the sites linking to you, your particular industry, your competitors, keywords on the pages linking to you, etc etc. In fact, it's very important to constantly build links ... stopping for an extended period of time will sink your rankings.

To get in Top of SERPs the number of links is just one of the factors considering by search engine. Content of your site and proper optimization is also a factor consider by search engine.
