They're evolving and making it tougher for sites that don't offer any real unique content to get in and rank.

In the case of your first site, you're overqualified in that regard. Affiliate marketing like this just doesn't work. The people generally haven't taken the program, and they haven't learned anything. It's just spam.

The second site is a little better looking, but does pretty much the same thing...affiliate marketing spammy scummy stuff.

So if you want to become number one, build something that people would actually use.

MSN algo fluctuates very often. I experieced something similar.
I once ranked at 1st place for "pertusis". Then suddenly my dissappeared It was nowhere to be found. Again now it is back at 4th place.
Of course "pertusis" is least searched term due to an alternate spelling. But this definitely shows that MSN is fluctuating badly.

Hope they make their search engine more efficient like the big G.

Thanks
Aditya

this is exactly what Google used to be like...anyone remember the Christmas rush of 2003 where Google started banning Over-Optimised sites to force people to use AdWords? VOLUMES of sales were lost as sites plummeted, and straight after Christmas they came back. We spent AGES stripping keywords to rank better (contradiction...) only to reinsert them after we plummeted AGAIN after Christmas.

MSN changed recently and we benefited a TON so I'm happy about it. I'm sure they'll make more changes again, but they seem to be getting closer to a Google-type algorithm, as our results in MSN are getting closer to those in Google all the time.
