Hi All

I don't know if I'm the only one having trouble with the new Yahoo Inclusion but just in case try this link

http://submit.search.yahoo.com/free/request

I took me a bunch of times for it to take but it will work if you keep trying. It beats paying the 300 bucks

The free submit is for the search index and not the Directory - you still have to pay the 300 bucks for a commercial site to get in the Directory.

Its also pointless submitting if you have good links to your site, as slurp will find you that way (just like Google)

That's not quite true.

The way that the yahoo search is set up, if you have a yahoo listing your site is valued much higher than if you do not.

I have a on Oregon photos website that Google rates PageRank 5/10 and it show up first for oregon photos.

Yahoo rates my sites WR1 and my site doesn't show up on the Yahoo search report at all. There's no way I will pay $300 to list this site.

Yahoo search is like some kind of extortion you shouldn't have to pay for your search engine rankings. I don't have to pay for my Google rank why should I pay for a Yahoo listing. Yahoo sucks.

You are lucky that Google is giving you a free ranking. Web people take this for granite. Tell me on any other medium where you will get free advertising. Not in magazines, newspapers and definitely not on TV.

About Yahoo, I think the cost of $300 is very cheap for what it gets you. A couple of sales from that imporved ranking and I think you would feel differently.

I would hardly call it free rank. I have been listing my site on every directory I can find and trading links for over 6 months.

I submitted my site to over 100 additional directories last night, I finnished when the sun was coming up. But for the most part. But for the most part I only work on a given site for an hour per day. I will not work on this site for about a month other than adding some directory listings that I have sold.

It's alot of leg work to get quality links.

I think for the most part I will only get about 3000 visitors per month from meta search engines. (with my current content, tags and links)

I figure the more places I have links the more incidental click-thrus I will get. And my PageRank will likely go up to 6/10.

The point was that to show up on Yahoo search you have to be listed in the Yahoo directory. That's like if google said hey we'll give you a PR5 if you give us $300 a year. In that sense Yahoo has lost nearly all of it's credibility for non-bias meta search engine results.

So I just spend time listing my site in directories. Sooner or later I'll hit one that has a good web rank and Yahoo will start to like my site.

I'm not upset that yahoo isn't finding my page. It just bothers me that I don't get found simply because I don't pay Yahoo for the listing.

Just to recap: I just optimize my site for Google and other non-bias meta search engines. I don't optimized for Yahoo because in my opion Yahoo search results are not credible.

That's a shame because Yahoo now has nearly a one third share of Web searches - about the same as Google. You could be missing out on a lot of quality traffic.

I get your point though about the biased results. But expect all searches engines to get more and more greedy as time goes on. No one is in business to not make money.

For the niche of this site I will only get 3,000 or so visitors per month from Yahoo. And I'm better off with $300 worth of banner impressions or text links or gauranteed visitors.
Yeah I could be getting alot of traffic from Yahoo if had a commerical site I wouldlist it in the Yahoo directory. If I had a service I could sell for $99 a pop.

The only revenue from the photo gallery website is banner ad and text link advertisments. About $150-200 per month.
