The Other Search Engines

I currently am running a web site that has between 40-50 pages
The principal page is not an issue the issue is that I recently submited other pages from this site none of the pages are the same, each has different keywords etc., When they were indexed all of them were on top rankings avg. 1st & 2nd, after about three weeks they dropped to the 6th page of search results a huge upset.
I would like to know why this happend and how.
My principal page links to the other pages.
The other pages also link back to the home page should I remove the links back to the home page?
I am using meta keyword & description tags, naming the Title after my most important Keyword & recently added several Img alt tags with my most important keywords.
Would it matter how many times I use my keywords on the page?

Which engine did you experience the loss in rankings?

The search engine was Google.

When did you submit? Google, recently had some major changes in their algorithm. Check your competitor's sites, perhaps the have better keyword density as well
