The Other Search Engines

1. Google did their monthly indexing last night and today. Be sure to check your PageRank and backlinks. For example, for this site:
Page Rank is 6 and backlinks are:
http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...Dtalk%2Ecom%2F
Need the Google toolbar to view PageRank.

2. As of a couple of days ago, Google is now providing results for AOL and iWon, not mention Yahoo.

Yea, I just noticed AOL is providing AOL search results (and Iwon)! I'm not sure how long this has been going on, but it's great for my sites

Unfortunately the Google re-spider hasn't been so good for me. I've lost my 2nd place for 'free webhosting' to Netfirms

Ah well.... 3rd isn't too bad. And hopefully there will be some new AOL searchers!

Strange.... I'm number 2 on AOL search. Are they still using the old index?

Is the site directing to a Netfirms affiliate program or are you saying the site is hosted on Netfirms?

I suppose it is really... in fact if I had been put into 3rd postition for any other search term I would have been celebrating

Just a little annoying I suppose.

As for Netfirms, their homepage is now at number 2:

1. FreeWebSpace.net
2. Netfirms
3. Free-Webhosting.info
4. 20MegsFree
5. Sitebuilder (believer.ca)

Hopefully I'll be able to get some more links to my site and keep my ranking. I've got a pagerank of 6, but with Freewebspace and 20MegsFree on 7, and Netfirms on 8 I think my site is on its way down

so google, aol and iwon are now inter-related?
this is very interesting. i'm not ranked on any of them at the moment, so it doesn't affect me right now. but in the future, when i get my top place rankings (it is of course only a matter of time

!!) then this will be a vital piece of information.

being ranked well on google should theoretically, because of this, mean your ranking in aol and iwon will rise, and vice-versa. this can only be good news for all those people who try to hard with optimisation and submission, their efforts will now not only pay off in google, but automatically in aol and iwon as well
