The Other Search Engines

Hey, im just looking for some others thoughts on something. I was checking google rankings for a few of my main keywords today, as i did some SEO about 2 weeks ago, and noticed the googlebot. Anyhow, everything looked fine, except my main keyword which accounts for about 65% of traffic i get from google dropped from 5 to 133. The only difference to the page that was optimised for the keyword, was a slightly higher keyword density, but nothing that would raise any flags, and loss of PR (from 4 to 0) due to file name change. So i guess my main question is does PR really have that big of an impact still?

PR does not have any effect on your ranking at all. PR is a reflection of the number and quality of links you have.

I thought how much PR you had affected how high you are ranked on google?

Nope. PR is purely a reflection of the number and quality of links you have pointing to your site.

Where you site ranks for certain keywords is dependent on a number of factors, but PR has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Filename change??? What happened to the original page that you were ranking for? Is it still there?

On another note, a buddy of mine has a well established site that went from a PR5 to PR Greybar just recently. Some other people in the UK are experiencing the same thing.

In both cases though, the greybar effect is localized to datacenters in the Central area of Canada down thru the Central are of the US and on into Florida. Eastern and Western parts of North America are showing differences in the PR for these sites, and it is only a handful of sites that we can find this phenomenon on. It is quite strange, and almost appears that the site has been dropped from the Google index unless you do a specific search for the Home page.

The original pages are still there and still have there PR, was just wondering how long before my new pages would have there PR updated.
