I know I like FCKEditor and TinyMCE..even though they are....well, not very validated...

But where possible, I'll use Dreamweaver...Just a little complaint, it doesnt really convert HTML to XHTML, I tried it on a test page but w3.org site said there were still errors

Funny..

Wow, I think this is the first post about HTML editors that XSP wasn't mentioned!

I use FrontPage and hand code some areas of my pages. FP makes me a little PO'd sometimes with the way it handles tables and such.

I thought about trying XSP because it gets rave reviews in other forums. Dreamweaver seems too much of a learning curver for me. I mainly create simple and basic websites.

There's a nice text editor called ConTEXT I've been using for years. Pretty standard and basic - gets the job done well.

I have been using Namo WebEditor for a few years now. What I like is the possibility to go from HTML to WISIWYG to test....

Good tool

Wow! I never realised DreamWeaver was so popular! I find it a right pain in the neck sometimes so I just use NotePad

If you use DW 'off leash' then yes, it's a pain in the patoot. However, if you do NOT let it do what IT wants to do, and set your preferences the right way, you can eliminate most of it's very aggravating tendencies

I have been always comfortable using Frontpage. It is a lot easier to learn compared with Macromedia Dreamweaver.

I only use Notepad, not much process memory required, only skills are required, however it's pretty troublesome at times, like you have to paragraph it a lot to have a full view of the notepad and saving the extension to .php or .html is a hassle too! Too much things to do manually!

Agreed. What more could I want? Syntax highlighting for my HTML, CSS, JS, PHP and the Java I do (though I'm switching to NetBeans for that).
I type everything by hand for a reason, when I do that and I find an error it is much easier to locate and I do put a lot of comments. I have my standards, like BEGIN CONTENTS or BEGIN NAV END NAV, etc....

And the only thing I like about DreamWeaver is that it tells me before hand if a browser has issues with this or that and usually creates my end tags.
That's the only thing I miss in TextPad, something that verifies my validity on the fly, htat would be very nice. Annoying while I am typing new code, but at the end of the day. My dream app.
