I have seen 1 major problem with directories.The Problem is..........
The directories are not updating the PageRank of submitted websites.
If today we submit a PR0 website to directory,then say after 3 months or so if PR of submitted website increases, even then these directories are showing the old PR for links.

Why is it so important to show PR in the first Place?
Does PR make your directory content wise any better?

Actually, there is a very small point that leads to a very large point here.

Some directories, such as any of the phpLD directories, have the option to sort by PageRank, which puts pages with low external PageRank toward the bottom and thus gives a certain marketing advantage to sites that have gathered more external PageRank over the years. That's the small point.

The big point is that these directories suck, generate no real traffic, and aren't worth considering at least partly because of issues like this.

my opinion is that this thing showing one very importan thing, that the owner of the directory doesnt give any of his time to his directory if he just dont push a buton every one month to update the stats of the sites are submited to his directory! i personaly do the updates to my site with the als system every week or every 2 weeks the most.

A lot of directory owners do update their pagerank. This is something that you have to be very careful about though. Google is not always happy when a site does massive queries for pagerank, especially when it is coming from your webserver. What a lot of people are doing is using this tool from Geraldm.
