If you have your site submited to a couple of hundred directories and want to expand on that, could it work against you to use a service that will submit you to hundreds or thousands of directories, since you are bound to be resubmitted at some of the directories you are already listed in?
i think it doesn't hurt to try, if you are not allowed they will just delete it, if not, you'll get a second link

Submitting to directories can't hurt your rankings. Otherwise your competitor will submit your site to 1000 crappy directories and beat you in search engines results. There is no such thing as bad link, bad link=no link. But if you submit to quality dirs, it will raise your rank after some time.
