Whats the matter if directory is a pr10 or a pr9? The page where your link stays is mostly a pr0 :\

Some directories do transfer PR to deeper pages, particulary "popular listings", "new listings" and similar pages that are one link off the home page. I have also seen directory owners work to elevate PR of internal pages. But you are right, selling the directory on the strength of its home page PR is often blowing smoke.

I think PR is no more in consideration for promotion purpose now-a-days the main concern is getting higher rankings in result pages by targeted keywords.

Regarding your question, I just want to say that PR is still one of the factor in achieving Ranking but there are many other factors Like Back links, Link Popularity which can make a page popular having PR 0.

if the main page of a directory is pr0 it does matter simply it means that it has fewer backlinks, but still that it can bring backlink to your site and possible traffics too!

yes..it's much better to have a link on a site with pr..but anyway even though it's pr0 still it's a one way free link..

Home page pagerank helps us evaluate how much the site is visited by google. If the site has a high homepagerank then the directory is visited regularly by google and your links on that directory will be discovered quickly.

i think page rank is page rank related to page , not sites home page, every page has their value on online

If your url is linked to a page having PR0 or no PR, then it won't do any good irrespective of the homepage PR.
Let us see, why you are so much obsessed with PR when the demand is for more organic and targeted traffic?

It doesn't matter the main page PR of directory.
What's matter is the link page PR where your links has been placed.

If the main page of a directory it gets passed to all the pages within the directory as well. Not the full amount but a little bit of page rank just because the page rank say 0 doesn't mean the page doesn't have a rank of .22 and part of that .22 will get passed to your site. So a directory with some page rank is better than a directory with none.
