Web Directories

There are only a few directories that I would submit to and other than that, I wouldn't waste my time. The Yahoo directory and DMOZ are two and I'm sure there might be a few other worthwhile ones, but beyond that, I wholeheartedly agree with Vangogh and Learning Newbie. And, as an added point, how often do you browse directories to find sites? I probably do it maybe 0.00000000000001% of the time. The directories really aren't going to send any direct traffic to your site.

I think there's some value in directories. I don't want to imply I think they're worthless. There are a few other general directories that are probably worth the time and cost if any.

I think sites can still benefit from topical directories too, but I there's a point of diminishing returns. I'd sooner put the time into creating a piece of great content that has the ability to pull its own links for example.

Submitting my sites in directories helps my site to improve their keywords ranking.

Yes they help more than hurt, but not as it used to be a couple of years back.

This is my personal experience. FREE DIRECTORIES ARE GOOD ENOUGH!!

Yup, directory will improve your SERP just wait them to approve your submissions.

yes, they do improve your rankings, but not endless of course

once you did like 1.000-2.000 you really got all out of it ...

and ... you'll need more then just dir links

then again, I've seen plenty of sites in niche markets that get good rankings just from dir subs ... so it all depends on the strength of your competition ...
