If you don't wanna be spam by email, create a fake but active email account to receive submission confirmations.

i don't think directories do spam? maybe other webmaster do, they submit their site over and over again.

The email you received from directories are just a part of their confirmation and it's natural. It's really hard to find a directory that will not send a confirmation letter.

yes , some of directory sender spam.
i added my site in some of directories and i check back link from each directory i have added my site , some of them is not in the list of yahoo backlink but they send me realy minimum a mail each day

We have 35 directories, and do not spam. You will only receive 1 email and that is if approved you get an approval email.

If for spam you mean people sending lots of emails, yes there are several directories that do that...but most directories don't

Check my webmaster directory. I send over 20 uniques/month and never send anything to email except registration info.

I don't provide hardlinks or require recips.

I just created a new one that I hope becomes very popular with the webmaster community. I don't/won't spam and it wont turn into a link farm each and every link is screened by me. All it's free outside of being a featured link.

Directories dont really spam, but maybe it could be possible that a script could source your email address/msn from a directory and get you that way...?
