Just got couple of doubts and hope I will get the answer for the questions...

Is it ok to submit the same content to all the directories? or would it be called 'duplicate content'?

What is your view about automated or semi-automated submissions?

My two cents. Article directories will of course have duplicate content but the same can not be said for web directories. However, the 'detail page' (if there is a detail page) can be considered duplicate content.

here's my explanation on this one:

posting same content on different directories is OK

posting different content on different directories is OK

posting same content/same url on the same directory is Spamming

posting same content/same url on different category in the same directory is Spamming

posting different content using sub page url on different category in the same directory is Deep linking (some directories accepts only index url only) this means no deep linking.

example............
index url: http://www.webmaster-talk.com

sub page url: http://www.webmaster-talk.com/web-directories/

i think you can use same content in you description at the time of directory submission.

yes, you could use the same content but be sure to submit it on different directory not in only one directory.

According to me always do manual submission. And in directory submission description is same than it is ok.
