Just want to share my personal opinion with you. I am a novice webmaster and I created my forum www.emedinews.com 1 year ago. Without spending single cent my site is now rank 1st at google.com.my and 4th to 8th at google.com for the keyword "medical forum" (with a pagerank of 4).

What I do is only submmiting my site to directories (free and paid) and within 3 months you can see your PR improves!!

Do the directories provide a free link to your website? I have trouble finding them, most of them seem to charge money!

Hi mate. There are lots of free directories out there. You just need to go look out for them, but some people like me give a free web directory submission list...to make webmasters' work a lot easier..

Submitting your site to directories will definitely help your website. I am trying it too and I hope to get a high PR soon.

Yeah directories can help with anchor text and to rank certain key phrases and also provide backlinks. Directory submission is more beneficial for new sites that have no backlinks yet and pages that are trying to rank well for long tail keywords.

I let my directory sumbissions slip a bit. I agree they really do help and I need to do more of it soon. I had a domain up to a pr5 just of diretories paid and free.

Actually there is disadvantage of submitting site to free directory. Mainly because there are too many SPAM links hence making the quality of the directory poor.

Do you agree?

No, I can not agree.
You will still get you needed backlinks and that's what its all about. You wont get any traffic through a directory anyway, Spamed or not.

Yes it does help, and if you want quicker results, you can go for paid linkings in high PR Directories.

directories surely help, no doubt about it, but you should use many different tactics anyway, article submissions also, just as blog comment postings

just make sure you educate yourself first; as it's not what you do, a lot is about how you do it!

Submit in directory critic... bcz in dat daily new websites get updated n thy get quick live also... i personally do submissions in directory critic only...

It is huge list for free directories.

Id assumed that the benefit from directory submissions had ceased to be of any benefit, but obviously not. Great result.

Listings in directories related to your site will be given more credit and thus help your rankings.

i mostly prefer blog commenting than directory submission. because most of the directories are getting closed because of low profit.
