Ive read that it can take up to 8 weeks for your website to appear under the Dmoz directory, but Im sure it's been over 8 weeks for me now, I think it must have been about 3 months ago.

Does anyone know if there is a way to check the status of your submission? Or to find out when it was you registered?

It takes from minutes to never to be listed.
So whoever told you 8 weeks was talking out of their proverbial.

Submit it, forget about it.

I think you need to check dmoz periodically to see whether you have been listed. But I wouldn't get too obsessed with getting into dmoz - it may take years.

I just started a thread that I just got in. Like they say. Submit it and forget it. Thats what I did. I gave up hope and then it happened. So maybe that's it, give up all hope.

It takes much longer than it used to years ago to get listed. As suggested be patient and don't keep submitting, give it a few months if you do resubmit to a different category or just hang on and wait. You might have better luck choosing an appropriate category showing an active editor name at the bottom of the category. If no one is in charge of that specific category section it may take longer to get listed without an active editor in place. Unfortunately I see a lot of "volunteer to edit this category" links throughout ODP.

You can always volunteer to edit the categories yourself if you want the links in

Some of the sections have editors who run competing sites in that niche, and won't list any others. Grr!
