It is STILL helpful. Links from directory submission can still drive traffic! They might not pass quality link juice, but they are still sources of traffic.

Really helpfull but some directories are taking review your site for 2 or 3 days. It may accept or not. but it will be giving to backlinks for your site. why do you use paid Directories.....???????

I have the same question, now I don't think it's useful to submit my site to free directories. It taken long time, but have little effect. Article submission is a quick way to earn backlinks.

I think directory submission is still helpful in optimization. Submitting to free directory sites are also do follow its just we have to wait for a long time when they approve out site.

It helps though you have to wait long in order to get results. Usually two to three months. Just make sure to submit it on the right category okay?

there are tons of good free directories out there, and no it is not hard to get listed, stay on topic, submit to the right category and you're done

I had made very good results from directories to Google and made it again for two websites from three I tested. The problem is that there isn't anymore decent lists available, so you spend your time to find out that most of the free directories are either paid, domain expired or simply ignore your reguest. So, I have now around 300 directory list tested from thousands (spent 200h to it, 40 only was client paid) so trying to use some extra time to put it to public in my directory.

Getting backlinks is always help to get top 10 rankings, Try to submit your website as much free directories you can, it will return you hard work into cash in long term.
