Web Directories

Hello there... I'm submitting to several directories, I have done the same last year, and now I have noted something quite strange, maybe someone more expert can enlight me on the issue.

While I'm manually submitting, after the submit click, I have noted this error :

<<<<<<<<<<

*Title: Title is not unique in the parent category.
*URL: Domain already exists in the directory

<<<<<<<<<<

quite easy, I thought, it means that my website is already listed, so I used the directory's search feature, usually in the top bar of the page and...

(1) it comes up that my website is not there.... so no results at all....

(2) or in other cases it comes up that my website is already listed corectly without any trouble.

So anyone have idea why case 1 ? why the system keep telling me that my website is listed already but no search results ?

maybe you should be asking the unknown directory instead of us

you right, got no aswer from them of course!

i think that probably the submission is there working but is just under review and can take months.. something like that

Should we start guessing at which directory(ies) and what their terms are?

the same issue was for several directories.... i guess my website is already listed but for some reason not always comes up...

Both.... I let people know about this kind of errors and will try to understand myself... I have noted that many directories are showing this issue...

I have posted in several forums this question to get answers at the end I can say that is just what the dir script does managing a website not yet approuved but already submitted...

I think its not like that all directories approved while your submit on those all, but it has some review time or some are instant to get approved. In the case, if you are searching in the directory, it might be approved after 1 month or 1 year.

1. Don't use keywords, use your actual site title.
2. You already submitted your website to that directory.

that's easy..
you have submitted you website to that directory before.. but, they never approved your link.. therefore, you can't find your site in the directory, nor you can re-submit your site again..

Yes, While submitting to directories we get these errors, as per my experience i think that you should not use your own keyword as Title/ when you get this kind of error do change the category and you will be accepted by that directory.

When this phrase "Directory exists" and after searching you find it not available then it might be under review but does not appear in the search results.

No matter what you use as title for the link.... you can use a company name or a subject ... example I can use ''ArtphotoasiA'' or something like ''photo of....''

I will get more targeted link in the second case... but anyway after submission has been done the domain is locked.

It means that you have already submitted to that directory and nobody haven't bothered to look your submission. When I went thru those 3K free dircetory lists, I got only 300 that's really working. Why you should submit to directory where the home page declares Links Active: 12, Links Pending: 4452910

Maintaining quality web directory requires a lot of hard work. Most people don't realize that when they are starting their own directories.
For example I have changed several custom made scripts before I came to relatively suitable solution.

It means your links is already present in the directory.

Either your links is approved or waiting for approval, but it is present in their database.

One thing you can do is submit your site into different category, most directories accept same site in multiple categories.

Try this, if it doesn't work out, then avoid it completely.
