Hello friends,
I am new to this field of directory submission can any one guide me step by step of a succesful directory submission
which one more effective manual submission or automated submission with softwares?
how long it takes to get listed in the submitted directories?
do i need to link back to these directories or each directory has different rules?

i also need to know
what i write under
Title-title of my site
URL-url of my site
Description-description of my site or i have to write a new one?
Email-my email
Category-my company category
Keywords-keywords of my site or new?
enter captcha
submit
done

Go for manual submission, not for automatic one.

First you need directory list to submit your site.

Check out

www.directorycritic.com
www.vmoptions.com

These are the top two sites of directory list.

Open a directory, select a category related with your site theme, for instance if you have hotel website open travel category, select subcategory hotel from it and submit your site into it.

Regarding anchor text

Use primary keywords or keywords on which you would like to rank as anchor text.

Hi ,

First of all you should avoid link farms ( there are over 100 new ones created every day in India for linking purposes -and they will never give you better rankings and will never increase traffic ).
Try to avoid paid submissions called as manual submission services offered in diffrent countries - because to many links in the short period of time will not increase your PR either.
Sometimes 6 links do the same job as 100 from link farm - or last ones can decrease your ranking in google.
You should use most important keywords for you as your title and point them to the related pages that contain those words ( included in some written content ) - do not forget about Title and description of your web page you point them to.( also relevant )
I know good directory called Jyco ( your website will be indexed very soon ) http://www.jyco.co.uk and mine of course - not as good as previous one ( I have started 3 months ago ) UK Top Websites.co.uk ( only UK submissions ) .

i think it is better to submit dir manually than by any software.and if you are submitting dir taht require reciprocal link then you need to mentioned the reciprocal link.
in the title tag you will mention the targeted keyword, discription will be short to telling your site content and your mail id.

Do manual submissions and vary your link text (title). You should start with directories in your niche first. Then move out to some of the better known and higher ranked directories.

Use free submission directories than a paid one. Do the submissions manually. If you want the reciprocal link to your site then you can give it. If you dont want then you can choose the regular free links.

--> they have paid, free and free with reciprocal
If you the directory site required you to link back, they will provide you free with reciprocal form

Be careful and submit your website in the appropriate category.
Search for some free directories at beginning, next you go for some that require a link back.
Find directories niche-related for a better relevancy.

the best way is do it manually. and if you are into Firefox you can find an addon (informenter) that will help you on you directory submissions

directory submission is simple way of link building, use targate keyword in title tag with anchor tag.

you first have to prepare a short description within about 500 characters describing about your site. be precise and compact. The title should be according to the keywords for the site. Other things are as they are...but the description is important.select the most appropriate category for your site.

Yes, websys is right and i think you need yo have such details before submitting directories. Title you can make from your keywords. Description should be at least 500 characters, that will be very good, and choose the most appropriate category while submitting.

Manual is extremely slow. Automatic messes up sometimes and tries to submit to wrong categories and such so before you hit submit make sure it looks good. Semi-Auto is decent. Most is filled out for you, but double check your in the right category. If you are doing many at once, alternate title and descriptions. Title should be your keyword when possible, just don't make it to spammy. You want to get approved not tossed out for spam after going through all the time to do directories. Good Luck.
