Make sure you follow all the requirements, dmoz is run by volunteers and it seems that QC varies between category to category, some of my websites have been added automatically without me even submitting them, other categories I've been try to get listed for months, resubmitting them a few times. But no luck..

It's a good idea to check the "last modified" date at the bottom of the page, if it's very old, you might want to apply for a moderator for that forum and go through that route.

Many categories in DMOZ have no editors. Hard to get in so submit once and forget.

I got in on DMOZ years ago, and still there thankfully. I wish I was on yahoo too, as some that have been on their for years do not have to pay the $300/year.

The DMOZ.org seems to be a joke I have been waiting for 2 years and no new listings have been added to my category. I have even seen people selling DMOZ listings of freelancer and other sites.

I do not know if even the Yahoo directory still relevant even?

Is it worth a $299 fee?

I doubt either are worth it.

Ive been waiting years also. there seem to be some crooked admins on there only allowing paid submissions.

DMOZ is usless nowadays.

I have to agree with Lynxus here.

DMOZ used to be good, but now it's useless and run by a corrupt/crooked administration.

And Yahoo is also useless. Don't bother investing money into a company that is falling apart and has been falling apart for years now.

And I personally wouldn't bother with any sort of web directory. They are useless.

I didn't know that DMOZ was still around. Their layout is very outdated and annoying to navigate. I would focus more on getting high listings on search engines like Google instead. It will be much easier and probably cheaper too.

I was just at DMOZ going through their catagories a little bit, I did not find ONE that had been updated within the past year, and I agree with the comment above, their layout is crap. Very disappointing...

Are there paid ways or are there people that can be paid to help you get listed in dmoz fast?
