hello,
i have been thinking that to add web sites to yahoo directory, we have to pay $299.
today when i went to the directory, http://add.yahoo.com/fast/add?2270561
i noticed that there is another free submission method though it is not guaranteed.
has anybody got their site listed in it throgh this free submission method?
i just wish to know if there is any chance to get listed using this free submission method.

Yes, thats why they have it. But you have to make sure your site is clean and relevant.

as you say "it is not guaranteed" . some people are saying "yahoo deletes non-paid sites" after sme time

I don't know but I paid 299 a couple of months ago and it hasn't seem to make any difference in my numbers but my ranking is better

Actually, I got one in by the free submission (although it took six months) then another one in just by the Yahoo people adding it by themselves when they were adding new categories.

They include non commercial sites with good content for free. They added my sites to their directory and still in the list. I think they won't delete any free sites after some time.

Free submission to directories or to the major search engines is not guaranteed because it takes a month before they delete the site.Free submission is not only for commercial or non commercial or for those who want to link their site.We always submit our site to free directories and we always monitor that..I think it is not guaranteed if you go to paid directories

I tried five times to get in the Yahoo Directory in the result was NO.

I mean I have been trying to get in the Yahoo directory since 1998... although I stopped trying a few years ago.... If you are lucky enough to get in it I would recommend playing the lottery that day. Also $299 to get entered that is way too expensive you can submit to 6+ smaller directories get more backlinking and probably more traffic for that.

New categories, interesting...

It sounds like it really does pay to have unique content, (i.e. stand out from the crowd). Congratulations on your success!

Looks like this is an old post. I just submitted my directory as well to Yahoo for free. Was wondering what the difference was compared to paying $299. I guess one is a guarantee and the other isn't. Crossing my fingers.
