I went to DMOZ forum and saw alot of discontented submitters who never were never listed. Now I know it's important to have DMOZ but do Google and other SEs take DMOZ as a guide to rank our websites? If so, if you're in, great, if not, you're screwed.

Google: not so much anymore, due at least in part to the downward spiral Dumbass has been on for the past 6 years.

Basically, treat Dumbass like any other low-end directory. It's a free link, so spend 10 minutes finding a low-level category to submit to, and then go on to the next one without even thinking about it.
