I heard that directory submission yields better results and traffic if we submit out site to specific directory that matches our niche. Is it true?

If so how can i find directories in specific niches. Is there any search term that we can use.

Please help.

Advanced thanks from Rajanmr

Better results and traffic from what?

Most directories won't send you a lot of traffic, but some will. People generally submit their sites to directories for the links. There's debate over how effective it is, but it's usually accepted that submitting to a few general directories is a good idea.

Also niche directories are usually good to submit to as well. You might get more traffic and even better targeted traffic from niche directories.

A common way to find them is to search for them. You can try things like:

"keywords" + directory
"keywords" + "add url"
"keywords" + "submit url
"keywords" + "add site"
"keywords" + "submit site"

As you find some you'll probably notice they may use words other than add, submit, url, site so you can try different combinations.

I warn you though it's very tedious so be prepares. Some directories will require you to pay. Make sure you really think paying for a submission is worth it before you pay. Many directories will require a link back from you. I wouldn't bother with them. Directories exist to link to sites not beg for links from sites. If it requires a link back it's probably not worth the link they give you.

You will find some directories that will allow you submit for free and without asking for a link. Those are the ones you're looking for. Keep in mind though that the easier it is to get any link the less likely that link will be worth a lot.

Usually the harder it is and the more work you have to do to get a link the more likely that link is going to make a significant difference in how well your page ranks.
