hello i have several websites that i bought ... and i want to know if the wbsite is submited to DMOZ.

There are not in DMOZ for now, but that doesnt exclude the posibility of being submited to dmoz and not yet aproved. Can i check this ?

I am asking because to my knowledge they disaprove of repeating submit requests, and i would want tp resubmit the websites if they were already submited.

The previous owner doesnt know, and the person that did the SEO is MIA

You can't check. They disabled that concept a long time ago because webmasters who think DMOZ is 1000 times more important than it actually is started asking a million questions and made what was an insanely slow process of approval even slower.

I wouldn't even give it a thought. If you're meant to be in there, you'll end up there eventually. Just don't expect anything useful from it...like traffic.

i don't expect to get any trafic from it...
but for some reason if you are listed in dmoz ... it incresess the value of the domain.

What if i submit the websites again ... will i break the DMOZ TOS ?

That's exaxctly what I mean. A lot of the editors ignore the submission queue and add whatever sites they feel like adding.

The only reason the "domain value" is increased is because SEO wannabes believe that DMOZ is one of the magic bullets to page 1 for whatever keywords and phrases have been selected (the same myth applies to Yahoo! directory). So this would only be important to you if you were trying to sell the domain to someone, which means the site itself isn't all that important.

more than half the sites added in DMOZ were never suggested in the first place. submitted sites is just one of many sources that an editor can choose to use or not to build a category.

The PR boost you get from DMOZ is no better than form any other page with a PR of 5 or so.
There is also a disadvantage of being listed in DMOZ:
Google will show the DMOZ-listing in the SERPS instead of your own description.
So if the DMOZ-editor decided to change your site description that description will show in the SERPS!

I would not submit my sites to DMOZ. Too much hassle for nothing.

Why is it any more of a hassle than submitting to the directories listed in your signature?

Why is that a disadvantage? In some cases it may be a plus, if not, just use the NOODP tag.

As long as it takes. There's no set time limit...or guarantee. It's their site...they run it as they see fit.

I know that's not a specific answer, but it is the answer.

2 minutes to 2 years. Way over half the sites submitted are not listable.

For those who haven't figured it out (and don't already know), cbp is a DMOZ editor.

Okay...cbp was a DMOZ editor. You were the last time I saw you say anything, though.
