Are there any file hosting sites that do just that? I'm not referring to those free sites. I'm willing to pay because I firmly believe you get what you pay for. I'm thinking of a file hosting site, something similar to a web host. Except in this case, the host simply hosts files instead of web pages. Perhaps the fee for this type of hosting is less? Since no supprt is provided for things like control panels and helping users with web issues or scripts I can see the fee reflecting this. Basically, a site that provides x amount of bandwidth and a FTP address for uploading and mantenance. Is there these types of site around? Any recommendations?

It probably depends on several factors which you would have to disclose for someone to answer.

First, the nature of the files

Second, the purpose of storing them.

Third, the frequency with which they are accessed and the amount of uploading and downloading.

The downloads on my files in a month can be 30 - 40 G in a month and have been as high as 80 G.

i was hoping there is something cheaper than a normall web page host.

I've checked the site and here is what it says:

Individual

Moving files and storing files is easy. Load the e-ttach software on your computer or computers, and use the e-ttach drive just like your C: drive.

Emailed an attachment to yourself lately? Most email is sent unencrypted - anyone can read it. The e-ttach network can use TeamDrive software. We encrypt all data before moving it when using TeamDrive.

Use the e-ttach network drive in your Windows programs just like your C: drive or LAN. Use the e-ttach system to access your files anywhere – at home, work, even on a PDA. Use the multi user version to collaborate with co-workers at work or on the road. The e-ttach File Transfer System is available in single and multi user versions.

Single User Version
$14.95 per month

The single user version includes one (1) user license and 500 Mb of space

Additional licenses available at $2/license per month

Additional space in 500 Mb increments at only $9.95 per month

Prices may change without notice.

------------------------------------------------

I dont know if it suits your requirements buddy, I think its cool enough.

File hosting, yeah they are the most basic being yahoo briefcase! But for complex file hosting you should look at the like of
http://www.xdrive.com ( which owns also freedrive.com)
http://www.mydocsonline.com/
http://www.netdrive.com/
http://www.driveway.com

Those services used to be all free, but i think with the netconomy not doingas well as it was supposed to do all of them are ow paid services....

the last one i still use is for mp3 file storage: http://www.myplay.com still free!

Well.

Have you conisdered an RS server? If you cant admin it, you can usually find someone who will set it all up for you cheap [fix up things, install the upgrade, etc].

And then at 99 a month you have 400 gb to play around with

I remember this online storage service, which is similar to Xdrive or driveway. It is good and stable when compared to other storage services.

It is really worth to try it.
