I am thinking about putting around 50-100 video clips on 2 of my sites. On the first one, our designers are pretty much giving me unlimited bandwidth (we're giving them $200/month for a combination of services).

The second one, if I do it would have to come out of my own pocket. I estimate that 10 GB of bandwidth could get used up real quick if people are watching 50-100 clips an hour. Am I correct in my assumption? Who's got lots of bandwidth for cheap?

Hi David,

Hmm...if you need 20 GB of transfer, it's going to be pretty hard to find it for "cheap". However, that's only with my definitions of the word. Could you give me an ideal price range? $10 a month, perhaps?

Hi David,

Well, 9cy.net offers 400 MB space and 20 GB transfer for $9.99 a month, if that is cheap enough for you. The entire host was built with the heavy-bandwidth-consumer in mind. MyAcen.com, while a great host, their 15 GB transfer would cost $12.95 a month, if you would prefer that. They are certainly a host with a bigger reputation than 9cy.net because they've been around longer, and they offer cheaper prices on the low end (which probably transfer wouldn't be enough for you). However, 9cy.net can boast 0.0000% downtime in the 6 months it has been up, according to Paul.

I business in the suite next door to me just got an $11,000 computer with a high end disk drive and video card for the purpose of compressing videos in real time. He is only charging me $10 per minute, so I'll really be able to produce quite a few video clips. The video clips will be about 2 minutes long and I'll probably want to do 2 versions, one for broadband and one for dial up. I don't know the exact size yet, but I'll have the first completed ones around next week sometime.

Can just about any host stream video or do they need to have a special configuration?

Hello David,

I don't know if the following site is completely what you want. It is 50mb only but they have many options for you. They also give unlimited bandwidth. The site is web1000. Web1000 is also the fastest free site I have found. Another site that is good because it gives you MySQL, php support, unlimited space and bandwidth all for free is Rei Global Media. He is also kind enough to give you extra features for free. Includes your own mail address. FTP access is given for both of these free sites. I hope I was of help to you...

Look at my site that is probably not very good haha...

Hi theysc,

You may want to be careful of Web1000. Please check out this thread: http://www.webmaster-talk.com/showth...=&threadid=978

Thank you conkermaniac,

I am glad you told me this, it is of some help. The fact that they delete accounts randomly is something I don't like, but I have my site always backed up. Rei Global Media is still a good site though, but it is slow because they have many sites with full videos on it. Thats all i have to say...

I'm a bit suspicious as to why a new user would bump up a year-old thread just to promote a webhost. I apologize if I have made a mistake, and I will fix it if you PM me.
