Hello!
What should web hosting do to force me to move from their servers?
I do everything right
What your reasons to leave your current provider?

not living up to their uptime guarantee

poor support/customer service

perhaps they have made other promises that they are not keeping?

I would think those would be some good reasons to leave.

Hello,

Following are the reasons to leave your current web hosting provider ::
1) Server configurations and downtime for the website.
2) Team members / Technical, sales, billing executives not friendly in responding, no knowledge (confusing), slow response time
3) Payment modes and gateways not as per your requirement.
4) Support and Billing system is down and services not being 24/7/365
5) They do not offer what they claim on the website or advertise!
6) Account creation or account setup takes more time
7) No security on the server as well as no data backup, etc...
8) Had read bad reviews on the internet.

I don't understand this one?

Surely if you're with a provider then the service you receive is the important thing - you're unlikely to be reading reviews about your current provider, but assuming you are then why would you trust what they say more than your own experiences? E.g if you find the service really quick, and uptime excellent, why would you believe a review that complains about constant downtime etc.?

It's obviously a reason why you might not move to a particular provider, but I don't see how it could work for "forcing" you to leave? Have you actually ever left a provider after reading a review?

Forcing no, but it's good to keep an eye on how the provider is evolving, outside the narrow view provided by your own experience.

No, and I paid the price for it.

It's not about 1 review though, it's about noticing a trend, and problems that keep repeating, on a prolonged period of time.

E.g. if you continually read about hardware replacements taking days, just because you don't have the bad luck to have faulty hardware, it doesn't mean you can't find yourself in that position someday.

Yep, fair point I guess.

Overall I take any reviews I come across with a very large pinch of salt. Even multiple reviews from different users may actually be from the same disgruntled person.

I get most of my impressions about other providers from comments I receive from people personally involved - either as staff/suppliers, or (their) ex-customers who I have a direct relationship with. The only 100% reliable method is first-hand experience, but beyond that unfortunately it gets difficult to know what to trust.

I suppose the other consideration is your level of confidence in the provider (derived from years of reliable service) combined with the importance of your site(s). You're obviously likely to be a bit more twitchy with your e-commerce site which provides your living, than your hobby site about your pencil collection...

Not everybody's as lucky as you are. Compared to the average hosting customer you're at an advantage, as you've got connections in the industry, and sources of information that the average Joe can only dream of. From your position though, yes, customer reviews can't really be a significant decisional factor as they're written by anybodies who are nowhere near as trustworthy as your friends and other people you actually know.

Great points there.

That's true, still I believe you have to come into unpleasant experience personally and not hear about it from somebody else's words to move your site somewhere...

Strange,

Most web host do all they can to keep customers. You're talking about someone who want to make you to migrate Well if you use too much of the server resources thye might ask you to upgrade account... or something like that.
