I own the site www.halouniverse.org. My friend does all of it for me, but I couldnt contact him so I am asking here. I was uploading something into a folder in my public_html folder, it was a video I needed for school. ANd I left it to upload over night. SO this morning I check my site here at school for the first time, and you can see what comes up. Some weird....I dont even know how to explain it. Can someone help me or tell me what went wrong?
If I had to back it up mauallly....than no. I dont have a back up.
Virtually all hosts make it clear in the TOS that backups are ultimately the responsibility of the customer. I hope HG has one, though it may cost you to have the site restored. Did you contact them?

Did you try to FTP login to your site and upload at least your index.html file?
Is your account still functional? Can you login to your site Admin CP?
Are you saying that you don't have original copy of your site stored on your PC?

Maybe, if you used a FTP client, you dragged and dropped the public_html content in its parent folder by mistake. I recall doing something like this by accident once.

It may not be gone. When I looked at the dates on your sites directories via FTP (BTW, they're open to anonymous FTP), they didn't match the whois dates for your domain. Could it be Hostgator is pointing halouniverse.org to the wrong sub-directory on the server?

It might have been that you have overwritten your files (choose a wrong folder and erased your files).
