I wasn't quite sure which area to post this topic in. This one seemed to be the most fitting. I have my old computer and i want to use it as a server for my own website. I already have a ddns client to host my ddns server, but how do i get my site online? whats the easiest to use web server, i used kfwebserver but there were problems whenever the ddns updated, i have an updater on my server that automatically sends the new ip to my dns host. does any of this make sense or am i going crazy trying to set this up?

You don't need pro help. Look into Apache, PHP and MySQL. There are tons of tutorials on the web to set them up. Their powerful and free and this site is run off them.

First, install all server software: apache, php, mysql
second, use a domain name point to your ip.
third, upload your website.

Its really easy to set a "server" up just for your site. I think you should use the best software like apache, php, mysql and other web hosting software. Basically install what ever you need to run your web site. There are many tutorials on how to setup, install and best of all, secure a web server.

Give EasyPHP a go (http://www.easyphp.org/) it sets up apache, mysql, and PHP for you in one go, very easy

I recommend changing your old computer over to Linux and install the servers right there at installation and then go from there.
