I want to become an affiliate from ServerPoint.com. This company offers to pay you a one time $60 commission for every single qualified sale. Can it be true?
How much commission do you get being an affiliate?
It can be true. They have a 3 month minimum for their smallest plan, and a setup fee for their larger plans. So they make most of the affiliate money up front. But long term commitment and set-up plans are harder to convert. Hostgator has a monthly plan and no set-up, their affiliate program pays $50 a sign up, much easier to convert sales. There are quite a few other hosts with similar plans/programs.
# Qualified Commission: A "qualified commission" is one for which the new account which is the subject of the commission has remained in good standing continuously for at least 180 days from its inception. SERVERPOINT.COM shall make all decisions as to whether any commission is a "qualified commission." If at any time after a commission has been awarded and/or paid and the related customer's account is terminated or canceled, due to chargeback or any other violation of our agreement and policies, this commission will be revoked and subtracted from any standing or future commissions account balance you may have. We reserve the right to withhold payment for an extra reasonable time to ensure that the correct amount is paid and to validate any suspicious account.
# Payment Date: Payments will only be paid once your commissions account balance reaches a minimum level of at least Three Hundred and Seventy Five Dollars ($375) owed and the commission has become a qualified commission. SERVERPOINT.COM shall make no payment to you until the minimum balance and qualified commission status has been reached.
Basically this means that your first payment will be at least 6 months after you start promoting them. The $375 threshold is quite high as well, for the average affiliate.

Does it mean you'll have to reach this level ($375) and wait for all then wait for all commissions to become qualified commissions? And if every single commision brings you $60, you'll have to make about 6 purchases to start getting money from Serverpoint.com, right?
You need $375+ (7 sales or more) in qualified commissions to get paid. This means that if you start promoting them today, you'd see the first payment in ~6 months, assuming you have at least 7 sales in your first month. Some of the superaffiliates might be willing to wait that much, but a small time affiliate might end up waiting for 1 year+ to cash in. It's a very long time, no matter how you look at it.

Thanx for clarification, ldcdc.
I guess there are different types of affiliates programs, and it's possible to get the one with the biggest possible revenue, so which company is known as the best in terms of being its affiliate?
I don't think there's a company widely known as having the best affiliate program. If getting the highest commissions is the goal, joining cj.com may be a good idea.

You will be able to make more reselling from ServerPoint.com than from being their affiliate if you ask me.
Why do you think like that?
I think ServerPoint.com offers a good affiliate program with nice commission. But their reselling offers are very nice. They offer ddicated servers and shared web hosting for reselling. It's impressive.

No, bro, you are mistaken, being a reseller is much more pain in the ***, you will have not only to find clients, but then you are responsible for their support, as Serverpoint.com leaves it up to you.
Surely being an affiliate from ServerPoint.com(as from any other company) is easier than reseller because affiliate doesn't demand supporting clients just looking for them.
6 months is a significant amount of time, considering the life span of the average human being.
Nice comparision here .
I have to say that we have such rules and they are the same for everyone. We got 6 month as not spontaneous decision. As rule our affiliates are web designers (web developers) and it might take up to 2 months for first referal. We do not offer direct way of earning money - only for additional one.
