What about the connection size for the server to the backbone.
what hard drives are installed (IDE, SCSI, SATA,) what RAID config
As it is a apparently a mail server;
is it running IMAP or POP3 or both?
the mail server software could make a difference as well.
If it is running website as well;
Is the database server on the same machine
What database is being used generally
etc etc
