Hey all. I'm a writer and a guy ordered a ton of content from me(about $600) to power his poker site. After a month and a ton of excuses, he hasn't paid me.

I've been told that I need to contact his host and let them know that he's using copyrighted information on his site.

The question I have is, how do I figure out who his host is?

Try http://www.domaintools.com/ . Look at Technical Contact. Most of the time this works. http://whois.webhosting.info/ also might help. In either case don't be confused by the ICANN Registrar info. It's not necessarily the same as the hosting company.

Yep doing a WHOIS on their domain may show it up - particularly with the nameservers or the IP addresses of the domain. My personal favourite WHOIS search is www.whois.sc but there are numerous others.

I hope you are able to make progress with this - I've had someone steal my content on a site once and it was very annoying. Good luck with it

Are your content is SEO related?
Do you have website with such contant copyrighted by you?
I think that you will need proofs.

I always suggest my customers to have their content protected. But some of them consider it as money and time wasting.
I have seen some companies on the web offering copiright protection.

You can also run a traceroute. That should point you in the right direction.

Do a whois first. If that doesn't work then definently do a trace rout on the ip
