Hello Owen. I think that you simply need shared web hosting. Just go through offer section here for web hosting. Also plenty of offers can be found on WHT (the biggest web hosting community)

You should have received an email from your host with FTP login details. Use an FTP client (like filezilla, but there are many more) to upload your files to the server. You need to place the files in the public_html directory.

Another good way to upload your site is to zip the site up and use the file manager tool in cPanel to upload the zip file to your webspace, then use the unzip command to unzip the contents of your zip the public_html folder.

This has some advantages when first uploading a site, it can be a lot faster where a site has lots of files (FTP becomes slow with the all chatter back and forth for each file) and you don't have to worry about the file type being uploaded in ASCII or Binary (A pain with encrypted files).

Before doing anything, go through the login info email your web host has sent you, there should be instructions for you to follow to get started with your new hosting account.

Visit the website you have registered your domain name, login and change the 'nameserver record' to the pair stated in the login info email your web host has sent you. After successfully changing the nameserver pair, you will need to wait for 48-72 hours for the update to propagate to the internet, so that ISPs around the world will know that the domain name is now pointing to your new hosting account.

While waiting for the domain name update, you can work on uploading web pages to your hosting account :-

1. follow the login info email given by your web host and setup an FTP client (i.e. filezilla), go through the user guide to get a basic understanding of what a FTP client does and how to use it.

2. test using the FTP client to connect to your hosting account and see if you are able to login and get a directory listing of your hosting account, since you are using cpanel, likely you will be seeing folders like :-

public_html
mail
etc
tmp

3. upload your web pages to your hosting account and place them in the 'public_html' folder, make sure your homepage is named either index.htm or default.htm, and there should be only either one of it in the folder, if there is already a index.htm/default.htm in the 'public_html' folder, double check with your web hosting provider to see if you are suppose to overwrite / delete it.

4. after waiting for 48-72 hours following the nameserver update, you can open up your browser and enter your domain name in it, the web pages you have uploaded in your hosting account should be showing in your browser window now. If you are not getting your web pages, double check if you have changed the nameserver correctly, and check again in your hosting account to ensure the web pages are correctly named and there is only one index.htm/default.htm in the public_html folder.

Hope this helps.

Hello dyer,

Yes thats true, you might have got the login credentials for your hosting from your provider which should include the FTP login details, using them you can upload the web content to your public_html directory through the cPanel >> File Manager or can use any FTP client you are familiar with (WS_FTP).

In case you have any questions get back to us and also your web hosting provider

Thank you.
