ix looks like a pretty good company to host with and they have cheap plans that have a lot in them. There like Godaddy.com but cheaper and you can actually do things to your server like use cron and such.

Your opinion on ixwebhosting, or any hosting company should not be influenced too much by what they promise. There is plenty of feedback to be found about this company. Try a search over at sitepointforums.com or webhostingtalk.com

I use them and have had them for over 1 year now for about 8 of my sites. My site hasn't gone down once either. Good support, fast response. Never had a problem.

I haven't had any experience yet with ixwebhosting...but I will soon on a client's behalf.

Do you need an answer like tomorrow or can it wait a few days?

I just want to point out that GoDaddy.com does have a plan which is cheaper than any on ixwebhosting.com, and GoDaddy does support crons, even for their lowest plans.

It seems that ix's secret is that they don't support databases on their cheapest plan. That means you have to pay $8.95 / month for a plan that does have databases-- which is actually quite respectable, especially for the given features. Look closely though: if you want ASP.NET/Windows, you pay an extra $2 / mo.

Anything PHP related with GoDaddy, choose Linux hosting or you will have issues.

Also, they are a massively overselling host. Are you really looking for such a business model?

NetworkSolutions is mostly known as a domain registrar. An expensive one too.

HostMonster is a new brand of Bluehost. If anything, it's Buehost that is truly famous, age considered.

Big company does not equal quality service. Often times it's the smaller provider that can keep a tighter grip on the quality of customer support.

You are right here. Bid companies don't take a good care of their customers. I personally prefer middle-sized companies such as Ahosting.biz. Though this company isn't so big but they treat their customers in a nice way providing quality support.

I have never used ixwebhosting so i cant comment, however, godaddy is a horrible, so please don't use it

I haven't used IX hosting services. But I'll try it out soon. But sadly, they are not providing Databases.

I ordered a business plus plan from them a week ago and they are great! Now all there plans have Unlimited space and bandwidth which is great. The only thing i don't like is there default web mail client. Other than that there great!

I assume that it is 70/30 30% because of poor security system on web hosting accounts.

I joined this forum because I came across this thread in a Google search for (sites hacked "ix web hosting").......

I have had a couple accounts with IX for about 5 years now... maybe a little longer, maybe a little less, though I can tell you its been quite some time....

There are so many things I love about IX webhosting, then again there are so many things I just cant stand! They have caused me so much greif, then tried to turn the tables and point the finger at me for the **** that was going on.

At one point I had about 20 sites hosted on Ix's servers. Here comes the bomb! Every one of those sites have been hacked, some as many as 10 + times.

I use to get, 3rd party scripts, blaaaa blaaa blaaaa....... Maybe 5 years ago I got hacked once or twice because I left the permissions on the wrong file wide open, but for the most part the blame is on them!

I own hundreds of sites on quite a few different hosts and I have had no problems with any of those other hosts as far as hacking goes. In fact I have never had a site hacked, except for the 50 plus times my sites on IX servers have been hacked.

Then plus, their customer support is pretty good, even if they point the finger at you and accuse the 3rd party script you are running for some hacker gaining root acces to their server!?!?!?!?!? They will still do their best to get your pages back up....

Dont take my word for it, whats a few bucks per year... take the ride yourself......

As any web hosting provider this particular web hosting company has good and bad reviews and that is ok (for any company)
