They're not huge expereinces, but more like small events:
1. At one of my previous (free) hosts, Netfirms, they grew too big too fast, and eventually it got to the stage where it was impossible to log onto FTP at all. Always said the servers were full. Needless to say I had to leave them.
SIDENOTE:
They were actually a great host, one of the best I've used. I got my first domain with them and was one of their first customers, and the support they gave me was brilliant. From what I hear, they're still good even today...
2. At Hostrocket (current host) last year I had huge problems. It wasn't their fault, but that of VDI.net. Unfortunately they had a lot of difficulties at the data centre (if anyone remembers it, a huge portion of the web was knocked offline for a couple of days). Problems continued, and for a few weeks my site was down more than up.
Luckily, being just a VDI.net problem, Hostrocket overcame it by building their own data centre, and I've had good experiences with them since then.
Not really horror stories, but maybe I've just been lucky.
