I'm thinking of purchasing an Enom reseller account - the minimum option of $195 signup fee with no Enom points.

Does anyone know what the situation is after this? Is there a minimum number of points you have to purchase, say 100 points for $100? Or are you able to just pay any amount you want into the account for use later on?

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

For most useful/convenient top-up methods they impose a $100 minimum and charge you a 3% fee (e.g. your $100 turns into 97 points). Edit: Other refill methods are PayPal + credit card.

For cheques ("checks") or wire transfers you need to submit these in USD (depending where you're from this could be a pain - like it is for us) which they don't impose any minimum on, and also don't charge you the 3% fee. However, of course you probably have some charges from your own bank for doing this instead

I would strongly recommend looking for an enom sub-reseller account instead - you can probably get a better rate than enom reseller directly, and still have full access to everything (API etc.). I wouldn't bother paying enom their massive fees... perhaps unless you want to get the lowest possible rate, in which case I guess you have a lot of domains to process for it to be worth $1595 (or a $6995 points purchase)?

whym, do you consider aother reseller options as well? I have geard lots good thing about Directi resellerclub. Maybe it worth to have a look?

I think reseller options are good from ResellerZoom.com and HostWW.net. Many useful features are available from them.

I just saw this thread, and could not recommend DirectI in good conscience. I tried a registrar called Dodora (dodora.net) back in 2004, but not for anything serious or commercial (just because I had a friend who could get domains through Dodora for $6.95 USD a pop through his reseller account). Anyway, Dodora got shut down by the US Federal Courts and DirectI was the registrar who took over the Dodora domain names.

DirectI messed the domains up completely...all of the records ended up frozen and eventually the domains were left to rot, expire, and couldn't be renewed. Fortunately in my case, as I said, I didn't have anything that would affect me commercially registered with Dodora...but nevertheless, I couldn't recommend DirectI.

Having said that, I don't know who I would recommend since I don't really deal with domains all that much.

I have 3 options in my Clientexec installation - using Enom, OpenSRS (Tucows) or Directi so I'm limited to those 3 ultimately.

Enom seems like the best option although it is expensive. I've had a look at OpenSRS but their signup procedure is fairly complex and something about them just tells me that they aren't as good as Enom (the site design really puts me off to start off with).

I've decided to purchase a reseller account directly from Enom (as opposed to a sub reseller account from another reseller). I contacted their sales who informed me that the minimum deposit is $100 which can be sent via PayPal. Thanks to everyone who answered my questions and contributed to this thread.

I'd agree with your eNom assessment, Dan. I haven't registered a domain through them or any of their resellers, but I have registered a few or dealt with Tucows resellers in the past. Their system is old-school, hard to work with, and the support is a mess.

A client of mine had a .ca domain through a Tucows reseller, Blue Genesis. In 2005, I relaunched their site and pointed the .ca and the .com to my new server via the OpenSRS control panel. Both the .com and the .ca took over 72 hours to propagate correctly, which I suppose isn't unusual in itself. What is unusual was that the propagation "reversed itself" repeatedly during that time. I've never seen anything like it before or since.

I wrote the full details out here at the time, and I probably shouldn't C&P to repeat myself...but needless to say, between this reseller and other Tucows resellers, I wouldn't use Tucows/OpenSRS for a thing.

i register with enom with one of my domain. But unfortunately m not happy bcz some time the site not working .. its payment system too showing problem. then i try from godaddy m OK now. Godaddy is the best registrar in domain reg field

Unfortunately, my billing software does not support Godaddy reseller accounts. If it did, I'd consider using them instead of Enom, but my choice is out of Enom, Tucows and Directi and so far Enom seems to be the most reputable one (from what people have said).
