Anyone looking for the best host, needs to go to iPowerWeb. They give you 800 MB, 40GB transfer, free domain or international domain, 10 free subdomains, PHP, Perl, MySQL, phpBB, phpNuke, search engine submitter, and tons more. And then after you sign up, they tell you that you have vDeck, which is really cool, especially for newbies. It's a gui to setup and control your site. It has form builders and everything. If you sign up for 12 months, it's only 7.95 a month! The longer you sign up for, the cheaper it gets. It is awesome. I've not found anything better.

untill your post I had only heard bad things about them. I would do your homework before signing up with them.

IPowerWeb in my experience are the worst hosts I've ever used. And I've joined a lot of frogs over the years....
The words 'best host' and 'IpowerWeb' do not compute

excuse m for being naive, but so far, they have been great. And you may find better options with hosting plans, but not for that price, i've spent hours searching. And besides, I'm not running a major corporate e-commerece site, it's a state church site for crying out loud. I've not had ANY problems whatsoever, and I think they're great. So get off my back. What works for you, works for you, and what works for me, is ipowerweb. Big blue host is a joke, 8.95 for 5oo Megs less, and 32 MG less bandwidth.

its only $7.95 if you pruchase a year upfront. IF you get 3 months its $10 a month. they dont even offer a monthly plan.
At $8 a month its about $96 a year...I can match that at bigbluehost.com...mention you came from this forum and I will give you 800mb and 40 gb of bandwidth for $95 (so that we are cheaper) for one year, one dollar less than ipowerweb...how is that...

if you are looking for reliable hosting and good technical support than you are going with the wrong web host. my experience with ipowerweb is not very good with consistently bad hosting services.
my recommendation for a web host with comparable pricing/features...
EasyHost - 24/7 support, they own their own datacenter and have excellent uptimes. i use them for all my sites and they pick up the phone whenever i call for some info.

most hosts that i see around now offer cpanel (includes awstates, some scripts...) and fantastico. I looked into site builder and it really seemed to produce some crappy looking sites. Maybe i just didnt use it to its full ability but is site builder really worth any money?

secure email? now that's something hard to find in a host. ssh access is also something i like in a host. Though it's understandable that most hosts don't like ssh as it potentially gives the user too much control over the server.
"They give you 800 MB, 40GB transfer, free domain or international domain, 10 free subdomains, PHP, Perl, MySQL, phpBB, phpNuke, search engine submitter, and tons more."
Half of that is standard and phpBB and phpNuke are freeware.
"Big blue host is a joke, 8.95 for 5oo Megs less, and 32 MG less bandwidth."
Unless your storing and serving really big files or have a massively popular site going you don't need anywhere near that much bandwidth. Half the hosts who offer that much can't or won't actually deliver it.
As for me I'm currently quite happy with my host. onehost.ws for a while they had some really bad downtime issues but that hasn't repeated for about 4 months. $4.90 per month for unlimited diskspace 12gigs monthly bandwidth and unlimited ftp, pop3, accounts and subdomains.

I use Ipower with mixed results.
What they like to do is mess up your credit card information and then turn off your account Friday afternoon. The billing department has to lift the block and they do not show up untill Monday. They have done this twice. They did renew my Domain registration for free for a year for this which helped.
Overall the uptime has been pretty decent and the tech support has been decent also. But only if you call in. The online ticket system is worthless. At least you can call in.
Their online email GUI is not that great for novice users. There are better out there.
I stay with them though. Overall its been OK.

thankyou sandman... that's great.. just wonderful. I like em too.
Yeah, had a complaint about he email thing, but it's neat how they give you options. I used 1planhost for my dad's site, and their email was horrible. No functionality at all. But vdeck's is alot like outlook express, and gives you options on the gui too.

I have used Ipower for over a year now and have been very happy with them. I built my site in dreamweaver and had alot of questions when I first signed up in how to get the site to their sever and their support staff was very helpful. I have never experienced any down time with their server or connection problems so im staying put for now.
