My company hosted their site with Via Networks for a couple of years. Initially we were with someone called Netlink (I think) who were bought by Via Networks http://www.vianetworks.co.uk/.
After Via took over, the customer service when down the pan. They stopped any sort of telephone communication with the technical and customer care departements (the only telephone number they have is their sales department).
They say that "all technical queries can now be answered through our newly launched website". This is crap! If you send them an email, or make a query through their site, they completely ignore you.
If you want to talk to someone you have to call the sales team and then tell them that you can calling because their website is so crap that it isn't helping you.
In addition to poor customer service, they give you nothing. It costs something like £300/year for NO database, ONE email inbox, and not much (if anything) else.
Anyway, I spent 10 days (that's how long it takes to get an) faxing and calling the company in order to get the website hosted on a new host.
In the end, I asked for the Managing Director's phone number and left a message with his PA. 20 minutes after that a very nice and obliging personal called me up and sorted everything out that morning.
If anyone is having problems with Via and wants to move away, I can supply you with the email address of the person who finally sorted out my account.
On the flip site, 34sp.com are among the best hosts I know. It is onlt £15/year and you get a HUGE amount of stuff for that.
Hope this helps someone.
